Steps for purchasing your tree or palm

image49

Do you have a tree or palm we want?

We get calls every day from people looking to sell their trees or palms. Unfortunately 90% of the people that call have a tree or palm we are not interested in.

Trees and palms we are NOT interested in.

This is a partial list of the trees and palms we do not want. Queen Palms, Royal Palms, Washingtonian Palms, Sabal Palms, Oak trees, Mahogany trees and Norfolk Island Pines.

Trees and Palms we DO want

This is a partial list of what we are looking for. Canary Island Date Palms, Green and Silver Buttonwood trees, Copernicias, Gumbo Limbo trees, Kapok trees, Silk Floss trees, Seagrape trees, Clusia trees and rare, unusual or trees with character.

Trees and palms not listed

If you have a tree or palm that is not listed above please feel free to email a few pictures of it to jonny@southcoastgrower.com with the city it is located in and we will let you know if it is worth anything.

Pricing of your tree or palm

Once we have decided that the tree or palm you have we want we will negotiate a price with you.  A lot of people are under the impression that their tree or palm is worth 10's of thousands of dollars. While this is true on rare occasions it is not the norm. With the large expense it takes to harvest and transport the tree or palm, most are worth in the $500-$2,000 range. We also replace the tree or palm with a new one and relandscape the area if needed.

Harvesting the tree or palm

After the paperwork is done we will set up a harvest schedule. Some trees we purchase we will not harvest for several months. This could be due to not needing the tree or palm immediately or because it takes time to prepare the tree or palm for harvest. In either case the schedule for the tree or palm will have been explained prior to any agreement signed.

Preparing the tree or palm

Depending on the species we are relocating the preparations will vary. Some species are able to be dug the same day they are going to be moved while others require a root pruning process which can take several months. Whichever course of action is needed South Coast will always keep you informed and work in a professional manner.

The day of the move

When the day comes to harvest the tree or palm we will arrive in the morning with our crew. Depending on the species and size of the tree or palm there could be from 1 to 8 trucks and cranes on site. We will professionally remove the tree or palm from its location and load it on our truck. After we have the tree or palm loaded and secured we will install any new material we agreed on and clean up all debris.
